Principal's Message

Mr. Glen Mundy IST Principal 200
GEMS International School Tripoli (IST) provides an excellent education from pre-school to year 13. The school follows an ‘internationalised’ and enhanced English National Curriculum now leading to IGCSEs and the pre-university International Baccalaureate Diploma programme. The school draws both local and expatriate students from within the community of Tripoli and this rich and exciting cultural mix of young people from many different countries gives it a special international ambience.

Quality, care and relevance is at the centre of our educational philosophy. Our main aim is to provide your child with the necessary skills and knowledge to enable them not simply to survive, but to excel in a stimulating environment. All students are encouraged, supported, and guided, so that they may reach their full potential and leave our community with the confidence relevant for our modern way of life.

The academic ethos is both challenging and demanding but also supportive and friendly. We aim to develop enquiring minds and encourage self-motivation. The link between school and home is crucial and student advancement is usually a result of a team effort involving the student, school and parents. To assist in this process, reports and assessments will be provided at regular intervals and there is ample opportunity for staff, students and parents to discuss progress.

GEMS IST is an international community. Each person, student, teacher, parent, administrator and support worker is respected for what she or he brings to the school. The school is a place where people work hard, become friends and are happy.

‘The important thing is not so much that every child should be taught, as that every child should be given the wish to learn’                 John Lubbock
